You Savor Sushi with Your Eyes First

There’s no getting around the new Negishi Cube at Winterthur railway station. For here is where our visual sense is served up with something delicious even before our palate.

Curtains up for Tuna Fish

Salmon and co. can often be found in the roll as well. But not in the star role – not until now, any-way. Because we are putting these sushi delicacies on the main stage. To stand out at the rail-way station, we use scenographic techniques: the display window as a continuation of the thea-ter stage. So that hungry commuters can’t resist entering.

Prefer a takeaway? Better to stay a day.

Okay, lame marketing gag aside. But the restaurant operator, the family from Wiesner Gastrono-mie AG, agreed with us: take-away has to be an experience. That’s why we designed and fitted out Negishi to be a world that not only looks beautiful, but also feels good all around. Cue: Cus-tomer experience.

Direct Flight from Winterthur to Tokyo

When you walk into the establishment, you leave Switzerland behind you. That is no coinci-dence, because the restaurant design originates from the Bakumatsu — the time during which colonial powers opened up Japan to industrialization. This requires a close study of the country’s culture and history. And the sensitivity to bring the Bakumatsu to life in every detail.
